Alzheimer's Society West Berkshire review of the year

I just received this email from the local branch of the Alzheimer's Society and thought I'd share it as it shows the value that you can add to someone's life by giving up a couple of hours of your time. Charities are really feeling the pinch at the moment with money donations on the descent, so why not make it a New Year's resolution to donate your time if you can't donate your cash?

Happy Christmas everyone and here's to a joyous 2013!

I would just like to say thank you for all the wonderful things you have done, the time you have so generously given throughout 2012 to enable all the groups to run so smoothly with fun and laughter and jollity.

Whether you raise funds, volunteer at the groups, provide with much needed office support, transport clients, organise transport the list is endless but however you volunteer it is so very much appreciated by us and the clients I am sure.

Looking back over the year we have enjoyed very patriotic jubilee parties at Singing For The Brain, Easter bonnet parade at Purley SFTB, a gentle cruise down The canal for Dementia Awareness week, 2 lovely afternoon tea parties at Josephs restaurant Camp Hopson but to name a few of the very many fun activities that have been laid on this year.

We are also very lucky and grateful to be Camp Hopson Charity of The Year and thank all the staff for all their fund raising efforts so far

A couple of quotes for you

A client said to volunteer yesterday ' this group has given me my confidence back thank you',

A carer 'thank you so much for getting my relative to groups and organising transport we wouldn't go out otherwise.'

It's so good to know that we can make a positive difference to people living with dementia

Have a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all
